Scope of Business

Acacia Renewables, headquartered in Tokyo, is Macquarie Capital’s Japanese renewable energy development platform. The acquisition of Acacia in 2017 significantly expands Macquarie’s renewable energy development activities in Japan and signifies an exciting growth of service offerings across the region. Acacia Renewables draws upon Macquarie's market leading global green credentials and is committed to powering a cleaner future in Asia.

Our Board of Directors

Mr Ohashi joined Macquarie in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Mr Ohashi worked at Fuji Bank, Mizuho Corporate Bank and UBS for more than 22 years in corporate finance, project finance (for more than 12 years mainly in power, infrastructure and natural resources deals), export finance and asset-backed securities both domestically and internationally. Since joining Macquarie, Mr Ohashi worked on and closed numerous deals including Freeport LNG in the US (c. $US11 billion), acquisition of Senoko Power in Singapore (c. $S5 billion), refinancing of Senoko Energy (c.$S2.6 billion), desalination PPP project in state of Victoria, Australia (c.$A3.5 billion), investments in renewable projects in Japan, and the Sendai airport privatization project among others.

Mr Ohashi has extensive experience working with Japanese strategic investors such as trading companies, utilities, and ECAs such as JBIC.

Matt brings over 20 years of major infrastructure development experience of which the last 12 years have been on project financed transactions. Most recently Matt has been responsible for advising on development of Greenfield projects in the energy, waste and renewables sectors.  

Matt holds Masters Degree in Business Administration, Masters Degree in Commercial Law, Masters Degree in Engineering, and Bachelor of Surveying as professional qualifications.
