What is Biomass?

Biomass energy is the energy generated by the combustion of natural fuels. Bio fuels include wood waste, forest and agricultural residues, animal wastes, certain corps.

How does it work?

In a biomass plant, steam released through burning bio fuels is used to run the turbines in order to generate electricity.

Merits
  • Constant supply of bio fuels from construction to demolition

  • Less CO2 is released than burning fossil fuels 

Demerits
  • CO2 emission

  • Biomass plants need a steady supply of fuels
